People across the country are talking about watching Venus cross the face of the Sun Tuesday. Many astronomers dubbed it the “event of the century,” and next transit won’t take place until 2117. Many people gathered at the University of Waterloo in Ontario to observe the event, and Mother Nature was in full cooperation as the clouds parted, seemingly on cue, at the start of the six-hour transit. Canadians gathered in Oakville, Ontario through clear conditions.

Tornadoes become the talk of the town. A storm system that developed in Montana tracked north into southern Alberta early Tuesday. Severe weather tracked through the area. A tornado touched down in a rural community just north of Taber and three other twisters were reported near Turin, Brooks and Bow Island. Tonight, Environment Canada has issued a series of thunderstorm watches and tornado warnings as heavy rain rolls through Ontario. Dark clouds, lightning and hail were reported in multiple communities. Ugly clouds changed the face of a beautiful day in southern Ontario. More rain has fallen in June compared to the entire month of May in parts of Ontario. Summer is just two weeks away!
