People across Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire are celebrating the Diamond Jubilee despite the wet weather. According to some sources, “weather forecasters have warned that rain and cold conditions could ruin celebrations” on the River Thames. Today wet weather forecasts fail to dampen spirits as the Diamond Jubilee celebrations launch in dramatic fashion as the Royal Navy warship HMS Diamond fire a 21-gun salute and sail into Portsmouth Harbour. The Telegraph reports “Britain has been urged to defy dire weather forecasts” and be part of history. CNN’s Piers Morgan tweets “this is the biggest Royal event I’ve ever seen. Amazing crowds, fantastic atmosphere. Nobody does this like the Brits.” It’s soggy and everybody is talking about it.
