Environment Canada issued a special weather statement yesterday. Significant rainfall is expected across southern Ontario. Areas north of Toronto could pick up the most rain. The system will also cool temperatures, bringing the first taste of fall to much of the area. It’s unlikely the temperature will get above 20 degrees in Burlington today. It will be windy. Keep your umbrellas handy because isolated showers will linger into the evening.

More thunderstorms! Severe thunderstorm watches and warnings in Ontario yesterday. High heat even triggered tornado warnings accompanied by humidex advisories for the province. Oakville, Ontario basked in sunshine most of the day. It was the calm before the storm.
Curious clouds and rumblings of thunder made its way into the mix by evening. After the cold front spawned storms, temperatures might be more bearable today around the province. The fireworks last night should clear skies over the next few days. Expect mainly sunny conditions in Oakville. Sunshine will dominate until Wednesday night and Thursday. Showers and thunderstorms moving through the East Tuesday will bring an end to the very warm, steamy weather. AccuWeather is forecasting “lower humidity and more pleasant temperatures Wednesday and Thursday.” Western Wales and parts of the United Kingdom continue cleanup efforts after severe flooding hit the region this week. The Weather Channel brings you images of the flood. Rain and a nicer week are hot topics of conversation.
In parts of Ontario, it’s been feeling like the middle of July and the official start to summer is still nine days away. The Weather Network reports “rain moves into Ontario, heat subsides.” The reprieve is a welcome sign before it heats up again come the weekend. Daytime records were broken yesterday in parts of northern Ontario but temperatures will return to seasonal. Southern Ontario can expect high pressure to dominate much of the week after rain and possibly thunderstorms today.
