Saskatchewan usually sees about 12 tornadoes a year. On July 25th, people in Saskatchewan were buzzing about the high number of tornadoes confirmed by Environment Canada. On July 24th, it was confirmed that five twisters touched down. Two separate tornadoes passed near Balgonie, Saskatchewan last week.

The Prairies have seen a stormy summer so far. Yesterday, a tornado was reported to have touched down in Alberta. The unsettled weather will continue to affect the western provinces today and tonight. Brian Dillon is a meteorologist at The Weather Network. He says “it’s important to remember that every severe thunderstorm has the potential to create a tornado.” There’s been a ton of severe weather in Saskatchewan. Why so many tornadoes in July?
